Yellow Factory carries out its activities through projects. We carry out projects ourselves, but also collaborate with other parties.

Our current projects

Since 2012, Yellow Factory has carried out various innovative projects. We carry out projects ourselves, but also collaborate with other parties, such as Fontys University of Applied Sciences Eindhoven and the University of Twente. Thanks to our connection with our own occupational health service (Wellbe) and center for clinical occupational medicine (NCKA), we are able to initiate projects to test innovations in practice. This page provides an overview of our ongoing and completed projects.

E-cone

The E-cone was developed for the diagnosis and treatment of hand conditions. By measuring the coordination of the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles, the E-cone helps patients improve their hand coordination. The E-cone works using pressure sensors that visualize the distribution of hand pressure on a screen or smartphone.

E-patch

The E-patch is a tension-measuring patch developed to prevent tension headaches and neck/shoulder complaints. This patch measures muscle tension in the neck and shoulders using EMG electrodes. When the electrodes detect high tension, feedback is given to the client. We are currently working on expanding the product with a relaxing stimulus that is triggered when muscle tension is too high.

Chromium-6 advisory

Yellow Factory advises the Ministry of Defence on the Chromium-6 issue. As part of this, Yellow Factory also carries out assessments in the context of objection proceedings. In recent years, advice has been provided on approximately 100 Chromium-6 cases. When medical examination is required, this can take place at the outpatient clinic of the Dutch Centre for Clinical Occupational Medicine (NCKA).

Exoskelet

Employees who have to perform heavy work or work above shoulder height frequently often develop shoulder complaints. A (partial) Exoskelet (exoskeleton) can support the shoulders and torso, preventing complaints in the neck, shoulders, and arms. Together with Fontys University of Applied Sciences, the applicability of an exoskeleton will be tested at a number of companies.

(Technical) innovations for and with people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)

Together with the ZIE Experience Center foundation in Eindhoven, Yellow Factory is working to promote social participation and reintegration. We do this specifically for people in the workplace who have ABI. We achieve this through (technical) innovations by sharing knowledge via a demonstration platform and workshops for professionals.

Completed projects

Shoe-TIMes

Yellow Factory participated in the Shoe-TIMeS project (Shear force Textile Intelligent Measurement System) in collaboration with Fontys University of Applied Sciences. The project aims to develop a wearable device that can measure shear forces and pressure inside the shoe, in order to fit optimal orthopedic footwear.

DiMos (Diabetic Monitoring Sock)

The DiMoS is a sock with sensors that detects early signs of neuropathy in the feet of diabetes patients. Because the autonomic monitoring system degrades in people with neuropathy, a technology-supported monitoring system can take over this function. A system has been developed that monitors the condition of the foot inside the shoe and signals dangerous situations in real time, allowing preventive action to be taken. The result for the patient is less permanent damage and less loss of quality of life.
